 Catfishing is when someone uses a different identity in order to trick another person into believing that they’re that person online.“Catfish” is a person who creates a false online identity in the hopes of luring people into romantic relationships, money related frauds or some time just for fun.
On first hand to make sure a profile on Facebook or Instagram is fake we advice you to follow few simple steps

• Search their photos using Google Image Search – Follow these steps; Right click on the picture she is claiming to be her > select copy image URL/ copy image location> go to Google Search By Image >click on camera icon> paste what you have copied > click search .

  If you find the same pictures on lots of different sites linked to different names or if the images turn up on a stock photo site or modelling site admit it no real people has their picture son spread on Internet. It must be a fake account, a Catfish.
• By Mutual Friends - Do you have any mutual friends? If so, can they vouch for them? If they only have a handful of random contacts, it’s usually a telltale sign it may be a catfish.

Steps to follow when you recognize a fake account on social media

•  You have mutual mates? Tell them first. They have a right to know too.
•  You are not in Facebook ,Report a an account to Facebook by filling this form.
• If You are in Facebook, report that profile. Just go to that fake profile. Click that ‘Settings’ icon and select ‘Report/Block’ and you’ll get another popup, there you have to select the ‘Report’ type. Select ‘This profile/timeline is pretending to be someone or fake’. If you get a drop-down list, then select some option like “Pretending to me”. Click Continue to submit your report.           
  
  
• You are a victim of money related fraud from a a Catfish profile, dont lose your contact to them until you report it to nearby cyber security cell of police department and until investigation is completed.
